The venue was really nice - two fully enclosed rings, lots of space for parking and off lead walks for the dogs. We were entered to run Agility, Jumping and Steeplechase and also had an 'I wish' ticket to rerun a course of our choice. My aim for the day was to use it as a training opportunity for Pepper's contacts.
Our first run was agility - it was a nice course and I kept telling myself that I had to run it for training but for some reason when it came to it, I just accepted what Pepper did and failed to achieve may training goals. That said, we went clear! She stopped on the down slope of all of her contacts rather than running into her 2 on 2 off position at the bottom - I should have made her achieve her correct position, I'm still not sure why I didn't!
I decided to use my 'I wish' ticket on the agility and train the contacts - she was a complete minx! She ran off the dog walk and when I tried to get her back into position she kept barking at me and backing away so I couldn't even get hold of her collar! She eventually got into position and we carried on - same naughtiness on the A-Frame! It's my own fault - she had been allowed to do her own thing only 10 minutes before so it has just reinforced that I have to be consistent in training and competition to be able to overcome this.
Jumping next - another nice course and Pepper ran it beautifully. Finally the Steeplechase - it was a similar course but for some reason Pepper missed the entrance to the first tunnel! It was quite frustrating as the rest was great, but it had been a long, hot day so she might have been tired.
We came 2nd for Agility and 2nd for Jumping - so a good day but a valuable lesson learnt too!
Mandy managed to capture all of our runs on video so here is a little movie that includes the naughtiness of the agility training run!
