Fun in the Sun

We managed to enjoy two walks in the sun this weekend, I've almost forgotten what that is like!

Although the sun was shining there really isn't anywhere to walk where the dogs can stay dry so it was on with the Equafleece suits and off to face the mud.

On Saturday we went to Edenbrook where there is normally a path that we can take on a circular walk but at the moment all of the lakes have joined together and in many places you can't see the path at all.  Here are some pictures of the girls making the most of what I am now calling Edenbrook Water Park:

And on Sunday we went to Farnham park and very nearly made it home without getting muddy - that was until Ruby found a big muddy puddle to lie down in!  Luckily I got a couple of nice pictures of them before they found the mud:

Kelluki Independent Show

Pepper and I had a great day at the Kelluki show today - they really are the friendliest shows!

We did the agility NFC but Pepper wouldn't even stop for a treat on the dog walk so after around 5 attempts my trainer, Michelle, came in to help us! The rest of the run was pretty good but clearly need to do some work on contacts if we are ever going to progress!

Next was Jumping, it was a nice course but had a tricky end and it was catching lots of people out -including us! Luckily we had our Second Chance ticket to use and on the second attempt she was fast and clear and placed 1st.  Here's a video of her first run:

Last run was Steeplechase - another lovely course and another clear round but placed 2nd .16 of a second behind the person that came first.

Really pleased with our runs and glad that I now have a ckear strategy for fixing her contacts.

I really can't speak highly enough about the Kelluki shows - well organised, friendly and great for anyone just starting to compete.  Thanks to Sam and Becky for organising a great show and for Becky L for lovely courses.

Here are a couple of videos of our runs from the show - first is the Jumping - this is the video of our first attempt at the jumping course:

Scrambles & Pachesham

I have been to two shows in January with mixed results.

First was the Pachesham G1-5 Winter Series on 12th January.  It was a very cold morning and the ground was still frozen when we started walking the courses.  Pachesham had done a great job to be able to run the show following the dreadful weather which had flooded their indoor school.  The two rings for this show were held outside but as usual the show was run with great efficiency.

We started on the Jumping - the course was interesting but I had a plan - unfortunately I hadn't taken into account the draw of a jump from the tunnel, not the jump we needed to take!  Before I knew it she had taken the jump and we were E'd!  The two agility courses were OK but our usual challenge with contacts caused us to have faults.  Finally the Steeplechase - I was feeling quite good about it and Pepper was flying, but we seemed to reach the end so quickly that I convinced myself I was taking the wrong course and pulled her off a jump that she should have taken!  I'm so annoyed with myself - Pepper did a stunning round and I messed it up!

We then did the Scrambles Winter Series on 19th January.  Again, they had done a great job to be able to hold the show while so many other venues are flooded!  There were some interesting courses and we managed a clear in Jumping and 2nd in Steeplechase.  I was particularly pleased with the Steeplechase as Pepper flew and followed every direction perfectly!

Here she is with her latest two rosettes:
