About Us
My name is Helen and I live in North Hampshire with Ian and our two beautiful Cockapoos, Ruby and Pepper. We had never thought that we would be able to have dogs as Ian has been a lifelong allergy sufferer, however in 2010 a chance meeting with a couple in Winchester changed everything!
We stopped for a coffee on a bright Sunday morning and happened to sit next to a couple who had a cute little Bichon Frise.? We got chatting and it transpired that the owner was also an allergy sufferer but had researched low allergy pets and found that there are several breeds that could be suitable due to the low shedding nature of their coats.
So our own research began for low allergy dogs and we soon decided that a Cockapoo would be the right one for us based on size and temperament!
We visited a breeder nearby so that Ian could be exposed to the dogs to check that he didn't have a reaction to them. They had 2 puppies available from a litter of 9 - we fell in love with Ruby instantly and later that week she came home to live with us at 8 weeks old.
A year later we decided that we would like a second Cockapoo and were delighted to bring Pepper home to live with us in October 2011.
Our lives have changed so much since we got the dogs - for the better, of course! We love the fact that we are more active, walking the dogs in all weathers. And we have made so many new friends, either through training, meeting other dog owners in the park, or simply because the dogs are a talking point at the local pub where they are very well known!
The latest change is in our holiday habits!? We always planned to board the dogs with our dog walker so that we can still go away, but the reality is, we really like being with them so have now invested in a VW California camper van lovingly called Tubby, so that we can take them with us wherever we go!
Cockapoo Capers will document our travels with Ruby and Pepper in Tubby! I hope you enjoy reading about our journey!
